Hi all,

I'm thinking of replacing the bullhead on my Sirui T05 tripod. I'm not a big fan of the arca swiss system and am thinking of finding something that works more as a lever-based quick release system. When at home I use a manfrotto 701HDV on some 055XPROB legs with a nice long plate for my camera. However, this setup is impractically heavy and bulky for some international travel I have coming up. When traveling, I usually take my Sirui Tripod and am planning to do so this time as well.

However, I find the arca swiss system to be kind of a pain when in a fast paced shoot. I'd like to be able to just "click" my camera into the ballhead rather than unscrew/screw clamps in. I'd also like a system where I could keep a rapid strap connector on it so I can move straight from tripod to rapid strap and keep going.

Any thoughts/ideas?

There are plenty of lever-action Arca-Swiss clamps available. I'd suggest that you look at the gold standard Really Right Stuff B2-LR2 (external link).

like jon states the RRS is the gold standard in clamps, and i now own both the B2-LR2 and B2-pro-2 clamps all RRS clamps seem to fit all my arca swiss plates,as i would never think about going back to manfrotto or gitzo clamps.

Markins have a/s lever clamp options as well. ;-)a

Lumalabs has the Cinch strap that comes with an a/s plate. The plate has two bars on the side the strap ties in to.

Or you can get any compatible camera or lens plate that has "handles" you can loop any strap to, actually. If your chosen plate doesn't have "handles" then you can add the membrane connector. It fits between the camera and your chosen plate and provides a "D" ring to hook into.

Markins not only makes an excellent lever clamp (though I think the RRS clamp mentioned above are beefier and better), but it now makes a Quick screw clamp. I have that clamp, and it needs just one 360 degree turn to release the plate. It's just as fast or faster than the levers, and there's no chance for an unintended quick release with the lever.

I plan to use that clamp again when I set up another tripod and head.
