shooting with a 5d2.

I'm getting more into weddings and I need more versatility. lens switching has been ok but ts not ideal.

im looking at purchasing one of the following

Canon 24-70/2.8mk1
Tamron 24-70/2.8 VC

Tamron 28-75/2.8 and throw it on a second crop body and use the 5d2 with the primes for the good shots.

still running through all this in my head what my best option is, so any input is appreciated.

I own a 28-75 that is currently for sale. I would not recommend it for paid wedding work. It is excellent sharp in the center 2/3 of the frame at f/4. For paid work, I would certainly consider it an f/4 lens, and even at that you can do better, especially in the periphery of the frame. In a dynamic environment like low-light churches and reception halls, this lens would not be my first choice. Maybe 4th, behind the Canon and Tamron 24-70s.

Heya,

I'd go Tamron 24-70 VC. The Canon 24-70 MKI is not that great at F2.8, so the differences really favor the Tamron here with much better VC as an option.

Two bodies though to me, is more important. So if you have to compromise on something, the 28-75 F2.8 and two bodies would be more important to me, than just having one good lens, and one body and no backup.

5D2 (since you already have it) + prime of choice.
6D + Mid-range-zoom (24-70 F2.8) because you have more room with ISO on this camera to make up for the aperture.

Ideally (strictly my opinion):

6D + 24-70 F2.8
6D + 70-200 F2.8

Or

5Dc + 35 F1.4
5Dc + 85 F1.4
(Because I just like that)

Very best,
