Anyone have one or use one? I almost always carry a backpack and am thinking about picking one up. Just wondering what you fine people thought about it

I have never used one of those but I had a blackrapid extreme (the big one) and it fit plenty comfortable under my backpack, I am sure one of the sport blackrapid would be pretty much unnoticeable, under a backpack, and that way you could still use it without the pack

have you tried optech? They have straps that work very well for backpacks. Not to mention their sling straps are the best around and most inexpensive.

the optech works better for backpacks IMO, uses both shoulders rather than one, it's more comfortable. This may seem counter intuitive for sling strap users, since you went to the sling to go away from a neck type strap, however, backpack straps are considerably different from neck straps. They may look like neck straps at first glance, but extremely comfortable..... pretty much the exact reason you went to sling straps.

I have no doubt that the optech is better than the blackrapid system. it's only 10 bucks from optech or 9 from amazon.

Not used the Blackrapid brand however I used similar design from another brand. Here are some things to consider:
- Pay attention to the connecting points. D Rings on the backpacks mostly not designed for carrying cameras they are usually designed for routing hydration hoses. Make sure on both ends the connection points are strong and durable.
- How frequently are you going to access to your backpack? Once the system is on taking off your pack and opening is a PIA because the camera harness is attached to it also so you need to take off everything

It did not work for me, but it could work for someone else. My solution was using a regular harness and putting the backpack on, on top of it. It does not bother me, I can take off the pack, change lenses while the camera is still the strap without removing it.

I didn't even consider the taking off aspect. This is the reason I love forums. Still might work but a big thing to consider

taking off your backpack might seem as a hassle, but having a quick disconnect helps a ton. In practice having the backpack straps were MUCH more comfortable than the sling under your backpack solution, I could go all day without issue. I have changed my setup over time, and now use a belt system...... even more comfortable than a backpack, faster access as well.
