I am very new to photoshop, and am wondering how people make their pictures so clean and precise. for example this one
https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=140221

What tools do you go about using to make pictures as clean as that, especially the last one? Thanks for your help,

-casey

Welcome casey!

A better approach may be to post an image that represents one of your typical results and ask for ways to improve it. The images you linked to look to have been well exposed with proper focus, which is a critical starting point for any good image. Photoshop can only do so much ...

Also, what is your experience level with photography?

Hey bob thanks,
i am just wanting to get into photography, me and a buddy are thinking about trying it out with all of our spare time, This is one we took today, what needs to be done to it. I'm not really sure what settings should be on, and so on, a very beginner when it comes to this, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

As shots go, I think the subject is very good - there's plenty of dynamism in the image. However, I'd crop the image to change the position of the subject within the image, and either crop or clone out the pole, greenery and light in the top right of the image. I'd also do something with the shadow.

If you set editing on in your profile, people can work on your image and post their results. If you don't, quite rightly, the moderators will insist that all edited images are removed, because it's a breach of copyright for people to alter them without permission.

If you want people to work on this image, a larger version would also help - 800 pixels in the longer direction is the forum limit, and no more than 100KBytes - or you can upload a picture of any size to web space and post the link.

David

Awesome thanks, i put my photos on photobucket, but that drastically cuts down their size, is there anyother way to do it so they dont get so small?

I have a Smugmug account (there are many similar, including PBase) that costs a small annual fee but allows linking to 3 or 4 different sizes of images. You can also attach an image through the "Go Advanced" button when you post a reply, but as David mentioned, it must be less than 100 kB.

By the way, I think the image you posted is pretty good, and could benefit from a different crop, and maybe cloning out some of the background. If you want a deeper blue sky for these kind of images pick up a good multi-coated circular polarizing filter (recommend Hoya or B+W).

Thanks for the imput bob, if you wouldnt mind, or have some free time, could you show me, what a cropped and cloned copy would look like, i am new to the who PS thing and want to see what it would look like. Does it need to be a bigger pic, or can it be done on that one?

It's pretty small for anyone to work on. Save a copy that is 800 pixels wide and less than 100 kB and I'm sure a few could take a stab at it. I'd probably crop some of the left hand side so that the telphone post and clump of trees was gone then use the clone tool or spot healing brush to get rid of the electrical wires.

ok heres your first photoshop tip! resizing for web:

first, open up your image. this forum has a limit of 800 pixels on the longest side, so go to image>image size and in the case of the image above, set the width to 800 pixels.

now, it has to be compressed to fit into the 100kb rule. go to file>save for web. a window comes up with your photo in it.

make sure you save the file as a jpeg, and drag the quality slider until the file size (displayed bottom left) drops below 100kb. then click save! easy!

hope that helps and you can get a photo posted for us to take a look at.

More to show how the clone tool can remove the wires than an effort to get the crop right:

Bob has posted what I had in mind - if I was cropping for a finished product, I'd have probably cropped away more of the right. Hopefully you can emulate this for yourself, and realise that you have a really good image here. A little less tight on the top may be preferable, but that's down to the way you framed it in the camera.

A polariser may indeed help with the sky, though be aware that it will slow the shutter speed because it blocks some of the light.
