Please, does anybody know how to move this button? My camera took a tumble yesterday and that button is jammed and now I can't switch between AF modes. I shoot sports and many other things and need to be able to switch these modes. I can't figure out a way to switch it or to move the button to another button so that I can change these modes. I am currently stuck in the single open box mode. The single box with no dot in the middle. Is there a way to move this without that upper right button, I've spent hours looking and am at a loss. I've also spent hours trying to figure out how to re-assign this button to another button so that I can move it, also with NO luck. =\

Please, if anybody knows, I could really use the help as this is my primary work camera and I can't afford to send it away for service right now.

Thanks,
Bill K.

That's one of the functions that remain where it is. You can't change the AF point selection mode without it.

I'm a little confused, is it just the AF point you want to be able to move, or to change AF modes?

I think by AF Modes he's referring to AF Area Selection. Single Point, Zone, etc. as opposed to AI Servo, Single Shot, and AI Focus.

I'm a little confused as to what you are asking exactly too but have you tried to make the change via the quick menu? Can you still access that?

Go to Menu => AF -> 4 -> AF area selection method and choose the dial that's normally for shutter speed.

Some of my feedback

That doesn't help, since you still need to press the AF selection button first, to activate the function.

If you are talking about changing AF modes, I dont think you can.

I would try to get that fixed.

He's not talking about changing AF modes (One Shot AF, Servo AF etc.), he's talking about changing AF point selection modes (single point, zone AF, all points active etc.).

Sorry all, just realized there had been some responses. Yes, I'm talking about being able to select between single point, zone, etc. It turns out that the button is jammed in just enough that when I power the camera on it let's me choose provided I select it first. This is getting me by for now until I can afford the time to send it to Canon for repair.

I don't have a 5D3 so disregard if this isn't the case, but might you be able to access that through the Q menu?

Q menu should allow you to switch the af zone selection mode. Same for 5DIII, 7D after firmware update, 7DII and 1DX.

You'd think, but no. Maybe I need to check for another firmware update, but no, the Q menu does not appear to have a way to access what's under that one particular button. =(
