I don't own one but from what I have been reading and observing about the 7DII, I have a feeling the majority of the focus issues are operator error. I know some bodies have had legitimate focusing issues but I think that is a small percentage of the cameras that are in use. The unhappy people seem to make the most noise so it makes a problem seem worse. Look at some of the images posted by the 7DII owners and you will see some really great shots. It seems that once you get the AF dialed in the camera produces outstanding results.

I moved from a 7D to a 5DIII and I really like the 5DIII, however I do miss the reach if the 7D. I am saving to buy a 1.4 TC and then I will be back almost to the same field of view as the 7D when I need it. When you get ready to buy, check out the Canon Loyalty Program if you don't mind a refurbished body. I have purchased both my 7D and 5DIII through this program and couldn't be happier. You can save some money on the 5DIII but it will still be more than the 7DII.

Whichever body you decide on don't second guess yourself. When you get your camera, take lots of pictures, be happy, and try not to develop GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).

Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on each one once you have tried them as I will be making this decision myself soon. I do a lot of camping/festivals so the low light capability of the 6D appeals but then I go to a lot of motor racing and airshows so the focus capability of the 5Diii appeals. 6D being so much cheaper would leave room in the budget for a nice long lens though.

Having heard this for the last 5 years with the 7D line, that is my number 1 reason for not getting a 7d II version. I’m not a beginner, neither am I a pro (who really can call themselves a pro anyways).. but im done with line.
Not knowing what I want, I won’t ask for help, Ill rent the bodies and play with them to make my own choice. The 6d is the low light monster. We all know this. That alone is very enticing. So for me personally, I don’t know what I’ll end up with.
I will rent all three bodies and see where it goes from there. I’m just tired of never getting what others have. I honestly can count the number of ‘sharp/in focus’ shots I have taken on one hand. The thousands of other shots over the years were nice, pleasing, but never dead on accurate sharp.
I’ve done calibrations, manually adj each lens, use live view, bought great glass, done this, done that blah blah blah… tired of it.
