Did anyone else take advantage of yesterday's B&H Photo Deal Zone deal? It was the Oben CT-3531 Carbon Fiber Tripod with a BE-108T Ball Head. The combo has a list price of $520 (per Oben's site) and B&H's regular price is $399.95. Yesterday, they offered it for $169.95!

I ordered one to use as my travel tripod. I've been dragging my Gitzo and RRS ball head with me on road trips in our Miata and space gets pretty tight in the trunk. This Oben combo takes up less space and weighs less than half the weight of my Gitzo/RRS combo. Plus, the Oben tripod features a removable leg that can be attached to the center column to crate a full-length monopod. I frequently drag my Manfrotto monopod along with me too, so that also saves space and eliminates some weight.

The Oben combo will be here next week. I'll share my thoughts in this thread once I've had a chance to try it out.

Mark

I was really close, but I already have another aluminum travel tripod that's even smaller. I usually choose the gitzo (3 series), even for travel.

I should have got the oben for hiking though, looks real nice.

I picked one up. Have a budget Manfrotto CF tripod that I've been taking on vacation to Maui, but this one folds up an inch smaller and holds a little more weight, so I'm giving this one a shot. Looking forward to hearing reports on it.

Speaking of....anyone want to buy my old one? 75 bucks! :)
