Our local state park is planning a day hike for tomorrow (New Years Day) and they want some photos of the occasion. A friend of mine is responsible for support services (medic access if necessary, hauling material, etc) and he mentioned that I could probably handle their photography needs. Anyway a long story short, I told him I would be happy to but there was no way I was hiking in with all my gear. He got permission from the state for me to take an ATV in so I present my mobile studio:

Fun. What sort of reaction did you get from the group?

It actually went very well. I was unable to use the lighting as planned for the group shoot due to 20 mph windows on the summit. I did however learn that I can easily shoot anywhere that I can get in with the four wheeler. I had all the gear I needed and no problem transporting it.

Here is a link to a shot I posted over in People taken on the way up: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=17362826

And one from the summit:

Being the stubborn person that I am I tried to set up the lighting for the main group shot. Apparently I had a little to much faith in the ability of the sandbags that I had. Thankfully one of the guys helping me to set up caught the light stand on its way over. I had two Apollo Mega's for modifiers and they were like sails. Lesson learned and thankfully nothing damaged

Definitely looks like a good day for a fire.
