That meter replaced the L358 which is probably the most recommended meter by users here. The primary feature you miss with the 308 is the flash\ambient ratio. This is useful because it allows you to find a balance your like and then repeat it at will. For instance if you like to overpower the sun a bit you can try a 60% flash ratio to darken the background, the the next time you want that look you can get there quickly even if the ambient is different.

And now I notice that the L-478D is selling on B&H for 281.13 and Adorama for 339.00....weird. I'm gonna check prices in the AM and get this one.
