Has anyone had any luck with the last beta version available for the t4i? I'm interested in trying it, but am wary since it's not an alpha version. I would like to use it for the intervalometer and some of the overlays, focus peaking, etc.

First of all beta versions are later in the release process, thus they follow alpha and are generally felt to be near the final release issue. In addition Magic Lantern is fully reversible by simply removing the memory card where it "resides" so don't worry about a trial.

I had them backwards! Whatever it is called, I know the version for the t4i is not a complete/final release version. I guess it's alpha. I understand it's reversible, but have still been wary since it's my only DSLR. I always planned on trying it when I upgraded and it became a backup, but that won't be for a while. Anyway, I will follow up if I give it a try and post any results/issues.

Been considering for mine also so am quite interested in your result. How much room does it take up on the card?

I'm not exactly sure, but unless you have a 250Mb card, it's a completely trivial amount (a couple of Mb I would guess). EDIT, I realized I could find out quickly, about 33Mb on the 5DIII. Actually a bit more than I thought, but still pretty insignificant. EDIT2: actually 32Mb of that was 2 log files which I don't think are needed, but probably written onto the card for some reason.

I know the version for the t4i is not a complete/final release version.

I think it is good to assume that there will be no more 'stable' releases and all will be non-final now. There are just so many cameras being supported with different firmware that creating another 'stable release' is going to be so much work it will detract from a lot of further development.

IME the nightly builds are good and I would just check that the version you are using has been around for a while - if something is majorly wrong it's going to get reported very quickly. If the t4i alpha version has been out for several months or more, you can be pretty sure it is not likely to cause a camera problem (no guarantees though). Alpha also means there may be a number of known bugs or modules missing (they usually pull modules if they find them to be causing problems when used 'normally').

If it is your only camera weigh the risks vs reward - as you might do taking your camera into the ocean or a river for instance, although that might be a lot more risky. Risk of ML is low, but not zero. Of course anytime you pick up you camera there is a risk of damaging it or that it won't work suddenly.

I recall reading on one of the ML forums that they would not be pursuing a stable release for the t4i. Having just checked, the last nightly build was done on 1/2/15, so only a few days ago. I'm at least happy to see new nightly builds. On an unrelated topic, does anyone expect Canon to make DPP 4.0 compatible with the t4i anytime soon? I'm a little annoyed that it has yet to do so, especially since it now supports the t5i.
