Las Vegas

Having a problem with this photo, really cannot make up my mind if its ok or a dud! Any critique would be great.

Vegas is a hard are to shoot. So many lights, but so much stuff around, it is hard to make a definite subject.

I love teh lights and the pp, but is the subject the orange sculpture or is it the yellow and green building?

I have tried to make the orange sculpture the subject and main focus point but I understand that it draws you to the yellow green building this is why I am not sure about the photo.

So to answer your question, I want to say dud.

Exposure is great
Subject is moderately interesting
WB is good enough
Comp is ok

BUT, the distortion and symmetry are just way out of whack to be acceptable. So as King Richard III would say, "off with his head".

Thinking about it. A portrait photographer Roberto Valensuala said. Your subject needs to be at least two of these three things. Largest, brightest or in focus. I can see this applying here also.

Everything is relatively the same size, everything is in focus and everything is about the same exposure.

The problem, IMHO, is that the orange sculpture has a very boring clear fence around it. I found it very distracting.

I agree about distortion. The building looks like its falling

I have the same response. The first thing that caught my eye was the buildings tipping over.

Color and exposure are done nicely.

I don't no if it makes any difference but the two buildings do lean at unnatural angles here is a picture of them on a different view or is it me

not just you, they do look like they're about to fall!
I have seen a few buildings like this in Sweden.

I probably would have focused on that Gucci buidling and done a symetrical shot with the point right in the middle of the image. But Vegas is tough. There are so many things there and with all the people and the traffic, it is so hard to get good shots. My uncle lives in Henderson on the outskirts of Vegas and he tries constantly to get good shots and so few of them turn out well.
