First pic from my new lens to start this off, would be great to see others, this pic is nothing to write home about just a basic hand held 70mm shoot of some nice clouds and color, i have been testing the lens out as i think at 300 it may be off a bit.

I know this lens is best if you use the long end if you keep it to 200mm, but is there much reduction in IQ if you zoom out slightly to 250mm? i ask this as 300mm is its weak link even at f8 center frame, so i wondered if zooming back a bit to 250mm would help?

Yes, I can see some degradation in IQ around 250mm and up.

This lens is on my camera 90% of the time. So I have a lot of pictures I could share. But I will spare you and just do a 100 or so. LOL Just kidding.

I keep hearing this about this lens and do not understand it. People say it is not sharp at 300 or wide open. But mine is fantastic even at 300 and wide open. Maybe I got a freak good one. But I find that hard to believe because I have heard others say the same thing as me. I almost did not buy this lens because of reading these post about it being soft. But then I saw a YouTube video with Moose Peterson recommending it so I figured I would try it. He was right and I am glad I got it. I know the ole non VR was not sharp. And I wonder of some people, without trying the new one just assume it would be the same and that spread around the internet. So of course it must be true. But I can show you pictures as proof. I have yet to see anyone show soft pictures as proof. I think this lens is getting a very undeserved bad wrap due to some rumors.

OK. I feel better now that I got that off my chest.
