I will have to send my Eos 20D in and I was wondering if anyone knows for how long they are usually gone.
I had already called the trouybleshooting hotline and the gentleman there told me if the problem comes back then I should send it in to have it checked out.. well thats the case now. I need my camera by end of march, do you think that will work?

Also where can I drop it off, will Ritz camera take it?

Send it direct to Canon's Jamesburg NJ facility. I've consistently (well, all 3 times) seen about 10-12 days door-to-door that way.

My door-to-door was 15 days from PA to NJ. Shipping time was one day when I sent the camera to NJ and two days when Canon shipped it back to me FedEx.

When I called Canon repair before sending in the camera, their estimate was 7 to 14 days. So they were pretty close.

I shipped mine from a local Staples/UPS. I think it cost about $6.00 with insurance.

Good luck.

well, i dont remember the exact date, but the time it took from when i sent it off in the post office to the day it arrived back at the dorm front desk was about..

umm... 12 days? usually when theres fixing to be required its takes at least 10 days but no more than 15 days..

but then again, that depends where u live (as compared with sending it from hawaii/alaska or something)

Mine has been gone for 8 days now. I'll let you know when it finally makes it back.

i hope my camera gets back before midterm/spring break ends... the campus is hella empty - perfect for taking pictures in obscure positions (ex: laying on ground, hanging by a pole, on a ladder, in a tree, upside down, etc)

lol

About 2 weeks PA to NJ, and that was over the Thanksgiving holiday, too. They are very prompt. I do wish there was a better tracking system to track it prior to them receiving it rather than your average tracking number from USPS, UPS or FedEx. It was over a week before I even knew it was in the warehouse.

I sent mine out via UPS from a UPS store...however, mine was much more than $6.00. I insured it (was also sending my 50mm f/1.4) for 2-grand.

Sent in stuff 3 times now, an original Digital Rebel for mirror problems, a 20D grip for :::ahem::: issues, and the 20D for hot/stuck pixels. Each time, door-to-door was 12 days or less. The 20D, out of warranty and covered anyway, was so quick that I got the camera back before I recieved the letter telling me Canon would cover thee repair under warranty. Seven days door-to-door.

I'm in WA and send it to the CA address.

Is this the same for lenses?

Would anyone know if this is the same turn around time for lenses. I just noticed a small white dot on my 17-85, which seems to be just behind the front lens. Definitely not on the outside. I figure I'll send it in with my XT.

Can you send in a camera for a "check-up?" In other words, if you're not 100% sure it is focusing properly, maybe a bit backfocus, can you send it in and simply tell them to give it a check-up?

If not, I assume you could state it has fcusing problems and that would trigger a check-up. If it is under warranty, I guess they couldn't charge you if they found nothing wrong.

Any idea what the turn around time would be if you sent both in at the same time? BTW, I live in NYC, and I assume it would be NJ, or ther may be a center on Long Island.

I've sent in a D60, a 100-400, and the 20D's battery grip. Same turn-around with each, under 2 weeks door-to-door.

If you have one of the Green & White stickers use it. 3 day expedited turnaround.
