Looking for a high-quality CPL for my Tamron 24-70 f/2.8, which isn't cheap. I've heard good thing about Marumi quality and price saving over B+W. I have a couple B+W filters (a CPL and UV for smaller thread size) but have never tried Marumi. Looking at B&H prices for these two, which is very close, it seems a no-brainer to stick with B+W. As far as I know, these are the two best lines from Marumi and B+W in 82mm CPL's.

B+W 82mm Kaesemann XS-Pro Circular Polarizer MRC Nano Filter for $180.50

Marumi 82mm EXUS Circular Polarizer Filter for for $178.95

Am I missing something?

i also like using the best when it comes to filters, and i find B+W about the best there is but started using MARUMI DHG for my circular PL.D simply because i think they give more POP on the colors tones on the bright sunny days !i think it has something to do with there coating for witch they have a patent on,for uv and nd filters i just stay with B+W for there quality.

^ thanks. I read somewhere (in another thread) that the new Marumi coating is a little tougher to clean with LensPens and the like.

I don't have much to add, except that my buds at www.2filter.com (external link) recommended the Marumi CPL for my 16-35 82mm, and it's worked very well. You might check their prices also. They deal only with filters and related products out of a cabin in NH, I believe, and their advice has been dead on for me. You might be surprised to learn that they are a B+W authorized dealer, whereas B&H is not.

Another vote for the Masumi here too. I have one for the Tamron and it's great. I got the DHG for $100 when it was on sale on Amazon.

True enough about B&H. I called Schneider Optics (B+W) and technically, B&H is not an outhorized dealer, although B+W will honor the warranty on the filters B&H sells. They told me that B&H doesn't usually buy from them, but from an "overseas source." Hmmm. Anyway, Adorama is an authorised dealer, and the cost of the filter I'm looking at is $189 compared to 2filters.com $213. Both include free shipping.

Update: 2filters.com will match the price.

You might want to put in a bid at Greentoe.

I want to make sure that whoever I order it through is an authorized dealer on the Schneider Optics list. Too many fake B+W's out there.

Greentoe usually fills their orders through Adorama or Unique Photo. (no guarantees, though). Extra 5% off Jan 7th & 8th with promo code "NEWYEAR2015" If you tell Andrew that Adorama is the only authorized dealer, he will probably make sure that it comes from there. Greentoe says that they only buy from authorized dealers.

I have all Marumi cpl's for my lenses. I like them, I feel they offer great performance at a good price. I also have B+W ND filters, and while not CPL's, the quality is high. Cant really go wrong with either I imagine.

I decided to go ahead and order the B+W from 2filters.com Really nice folks, and they still had my info on file from an order I made back in 2009 when I bought my first B+W filters. I couldn't remember if I had gone through them or not, until she asked if I was still at the same address and read it to me.

B+W über alles. Smart choice, yours.
