So I started a thread earlier about the Drobo 5N NAS that I bought on sale. Unfortunately as it turns out, LR cannot operate directly on a NAS due to restrictions imposed by its database, which cannot lock network directories correctly, at least for IBM compatibles (not sure about Macs). Anyway, so it requires a directly attached drive... and so this is where the Drobo 5D comes in:

This is a BH "deal zone" so it's only active for 9hr more.
I currently run both the 5N and 5D and I can report that the 5D works perfectly with LR and is plenty fast. I use the 5N for sharing stuff like videos and backups for my house.
Also, I want to give mad props to BH: I ordered the 5D 3 weeks ago for $600. I JUST called asking if they have price protection since the thing went on sale today... and the sales rep thanked me for notifying them and told me they will refund the difference!!! Hell yeah!!! Now THAT is customer service!
