Something different from my usual winter splashes.

Johnson's baby oil in water that has a few drops of detergent in it.

Christmas card used for the bg of this one.

The set-up. One upturned glass bowl resting on 4 coasters which gives me that bit of space at the base so I can swap and move backgrounds. Another bowl on top filled with water with a few drops of detergent added to stop the oil from clumping together and forming one huge oil slik. Two flashes, one at each side with black card on top of them to try and reduce the glare from hitting the oil drops, need to work on that a bit more me thinks.

Cracking shots again. Really like these - they would make superb abstract canvass pics

Wonderful shots, George. This is something I should try during this dreadful winter but the backlog still awaits me...

George - these are great! Big thanks for your sharing of the bts shots. Very inspirational! Also agree with Linda that these would look great as abstract enlargements. Nice job - thanks again for sharing!

In fact the more I look at these, acrylics would look even better.

Great shots!! I did this a few years back and found that by using different oils I could get the drops much more spherical and uniform. Give it a go. I'm sure you'll have fun.
