I am in the process of creating some mockups of postcard designs. I have an image that I am considering to occupy one side of the postcard. The image and how it was created would be understood by most photographers but might be confusing to layman. I wanted to get other people's opinion on whether or not layman would consider this art or be confused. This is not a random snapshot and this shoot took a significant amount of time and effort to yield desired results. As an unusual image I hope it can generate a higher than normal amount of curiosity.

I find the image too busy and complex for a postcard. Too much going on.

Location: Where I'm from is unimportant, it's where I'm going that counts.

I agree with Hogloff. There is far too much in the image that is unnecessary and distracting. The subjects is clearly the water and the long exposure capture of the water/leaves moving in the current so I would crop off the entire top third of the image (the roots and large stone) so that the mini-waterfall is top right and the water/leaves fill the card. I would also crop off the empty bottom of the image (the card would be landscape not portrait)

Thanks for the comments. I do have a horizontal image from the same shoot but this version of the postcard requires a vertical image. I kept upper portion of the image to show more of the fall color and mother nature. I will use one of the other vertical images I had in mind originally.

Postcard images usually say something about the place. As nice as this images is it could be from any wooded spring. There isnt the sort of context that would lead someone to buy it to send to a friend with tge message " look where I am?"

In case of this image there is plenty of space at the bottom for me to add title & location it was taken. This is not postcard that is being sold, this is postcard being used for marketing purposes.

That information would have been useful in the original post.
