not sure which these were as they braved the ten below zero temperatures to enjoy some breakfast at dawn...

Purple Finch males have more red overall and including on the back, mush less body striping and the beak does not have a curved culmen, the mouth line.

never really noticed these fellows before, but am amazed at their ability to withstand cold

tough little guys for sure!
