Tui and Bellbird

We don't have a lot of brightly coloured birds here in New Zealand, but here are a couple of my favourites.

The Tui is a natural clown and imitates other birds, as well as telephones! They are very gregarious and unafraid of humans.

The Bellbird is always on the move and I have found them quite elusive, though they can be tamed to some extent. They tend to live in the forest where the light is poor, but I caught this guy in bright sun after a long wait!

They are both nectar feeders and at this time of the year are enjoying the native flax flowers.
