I used to shoot a 5DIII with Canon L glass.
Now I shoot a Fuji XT-1 with their glass and also a Sony A7R with Sony glass as well as Canon TSE lenses.

For Blurb sized books all three cameras will deliver quality results. My guess is that if a book were produced with images from all three cameras it would be impossible to tell the difference.

I did a shoot Sunday with a group of models. I used the A7 with 24-70 for most, also 70-200. I also used the Fuji XT-1 with 50-140 and 56. The only way I can tell the difference, for sure, when looking at the images 1:1 in Lightroom is to look at the EXIF data.

If the OP, or anyone, wants smaller and lighter, then Fuji or Sony are good alternatives. Quality glass and nice cameras.

For most work I lean toward the Fuji. The Sony is primarily for architecture etc. with the TSE glass. I ended up getting the lens so I had something that auto focuses to take along. The Sony is also the first time in years that I've not had a second body. Probably wouldn't take it on a critical job without the Fuji kit in the car for protection, but I've also never had a camera crap out on me either.

In my recent experience, you don't even need to be at the top of the Fuji line to get perfectly usable images for most purposes.

I am one of those hardcore unrepentant pixel peepers who shoots a 5D3. Just on a lark I picked up one of the rugged little S1 megazooms. My 800mm 5.6 will soon be on the market. The S1 produces much better work than gear left at home because it is so big and heavy.

I have 5dmk3 and XT-1 with 23mm f1.4, 35mm f1.4, 56mm f1.2. Overall 5dmk3 is better, more detail in the pictures and higher ISOs 5dmk3 is also better. Overall I like the less weight of Fuji and lenses with apertures rings are very nice.

I have been having a back and forwards internal delimma with both systems , as I own both systems a 5DIII with 35L, 85L and 135L plus the Fuji X-E1 with Zeiss Touit 12, 32 and Fuji 18-55.

At first I was not that much a fan of the IQ of the Fuji, as with the 5D I was accustomed to all the benefits full frame has to give, ie Dof & high ISO dependencies. As well as shooting through the optical viewfinder and changing settings with camera to eye. However I am extensively Travelling throughout Europe this year and have grown quite fond of the portability and slow working considered nature of using a fuji.

This has led me to compare on numerous occasions the IQ between both, and I have to say for 90% of my shooting the difference is negligible.
I would normally choose to bring either the Fuji or just the canon on trips. Most recently fuji exclusively to Italy and Austria, canon exclusively to paris, and Switzerland. Next trip Spain and Portugal both systems but but only the 12mm zeiss, 35L, 32mm zeiss and 135L, leaving the 18-55 and 85L at home to save weight. Best compromise. Whatever your thoughts both have pro and cons.

I have a Fuji X100t, and a 5D3 with various glass. The X100t definitely produces exceptional results, and the out of camera JPEGs with Classic Chrome make shooting more fun than any other camera I've owned, and also makes me use the camera more than any camera I've owned. With that said, the image quality and results I can achieve with the 5D3 and certain glass (the Sigma 35 art, and the 70-200 F2.8 IS ii for example) can't be matched IMO, and what I can do with the RAW files.

But the gap is definitely narrower than it's ever been between top of line DSLR's and small compact cameras.

Quick shots with 5dmk3/35L and XT1/23mm. Same settings on both.

Seems fuji underexposes but I haven't done more extensive testing. Also detail in 5dmk3 shot is more but then it has more MPs. I wish Fuji had 24MP sensor.

I use an XPro and an XE1, my 'pro' camera is a 5Dll.

In the last year, I've used the XE1 for more pro work than the Canon.

I can honestly say that the XF 18-55 f2.8-4 is way sharper and easier to use than my EF28-70 f2.8L - a lens that has a rep for being sharper than the 24-70 f2.8L - and it has IS.

I think the Fuji lenses are fantastic value.

I just keep the Canon to impress clients! Oh, and for AF speed and the true reflex viewfinder and more pixels...

Horses for courses...

I love shooting with the X-E1, really like the rangefinder feel about it. The X-T1 is a great camera for usability and that EVF is super to use. Still, the 5D3 is special in its own right. Happily use either of the 3 for a shoot that didn't involve a fast moving subject. The fujis get most of my eye time lately.

I'll never get rid of my Canon, because it has it's purpose. That said, you're right about Fuji lenses. Here's the X-E1 and XF 18-55 hand held at 1/15 second. Not the greatest subject matter, but impressive image for a kit lens, and would be impossible hand held without the great Fuji OIS.
