DPP v Lightroom 5.7 for converting 7D2 RAW files?

I noticed that my 7D2 RAW photos, when imported into Lightroom 5.7, are not as vivid (less sharp and more muted colors) as the same photos taken with my old 7D and imported into Lightroom. Then I imported a few of the 7D2 photos into DPP, and they looked more vivid, like the 7D files using Lightroom. I love Lightroom and would hate to complicate my workflow by including DPP, but the difference is noticeable enough that I am considering it.

I'm interested in whether new 7D2 owners are satisfied with the way Lightroom converts their RAW files, especially as compared to DPP and/or as compared to photos from other cameras.

I understand that I can use presets and change defaults in Lightroom, but I'm not sure how effective that would be for all photos and, again, I'd like to avoid complicating things.

Thanks.

Are you sure you haven't already got default develop module parameters set for the 7D? Load up similar images from the two cameras. Right-click on a MkI image and copy the develop settings, then right-click a MkII image and paste the settings. Still different?

DPP will be using the in-camera jpeg production settings for its initial processing.
