My apologies for the mediocre image quality, but I am happy that I managed to get everything else (location and time) correct. This is actually my first attempt at an ISS Solar Transit. I have tried 3 Lunar transits - two were clouded out and on the third attempt I got the timing wrong.

My biggest mistake today was leaving my solar filter at home. What a horrible feeling that was. I decided to use a 10 stop ND filter and risk equipment damage (even though I preached against this over the weekend on a B&H product Q&A page).

It wasn't a close pass, as the station was about 900km from me (somewhere around 20-30 degrees). I used a 7D and 100-400 with a Kenko 2x. I don't think I gain any benefit from the 2x and probably should just use the 100-400 and crop more. Focusing would be easier too. I'm sure the image also suffered from the fact that I shot at f/40 (ISO 100, SS 1/8000).

Anyway, here's a link to the GIF I created with the photos. Like I said, I realize the quality isn't on par with the great stuff on this forum, but I just wanted to share my minor victory.

C&C welcome and thanks for looking!

Wow... you nailed that centerline... great job! Am I counting 9 frames? If so that would make it a crazy long ~1.1s transit right? That's the good thing about the far away passes. Last one I had was at 51.8° and it was only 0.77s at the centerline.

What were you using to trigger the shutter?

Aaron

Thanks. Yes, I was right on the centerline. I think the transit was 1.2 seconds. It's cool that you figured that out by looking at the frames!

I used a wired remote to trigger the shutter. I have a pretty cheap tripod. You can see how much the camera shook.

I think this is very impressive Wedge.

I'm in Canada. Isn't that weird!
