I apologize if this is covered somewhere in the FAQs but I'm wondering what the rules are for WTT threads. Where is it most appropriate to post them? For sale? Want to buy? Is it ok to duplicate the ad in both? I know in my case when I want to sell something I routinely forget to check the WTB and I'm sure I'm not alone. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

All I know is I'm pretty sure it's against the rules to post in both. But I've seen WTT in either without getting shut down. (My experience worth only the price you paid.)

ETA: I agree if you want it to actually be seen the For sale section is the place to be.

In terms of 'if you want to be seen, WTS is the place to be', there's some merit to post in the WTB forums.

Because there are many fewer WTB ads posted, the likelihood that one's ad will stay at or near the top of the page (or on the first page) is higher.

That said, in honesty I think the best case scenario is to list it as a with the title "WTT: [Item] (location if you only want to do local)". My personal pet peeve is opening a WTS/WTB and finding out it's only local to whatever region. (well, that and the necessity to bump a post to say 'Sold!' and close it, which just pushes it back to the top, completely unnecessary - you can lock it and update the first post and get the same effect without needlessly pushing other posts down).
