Pelagics offer a wonderful opportunity to get close to a wide variety of seabirds. This Great Crested Tern (Thalasseus bergii; formally in genus Sterna, and sometimes known as Swift Tern), one of up to 30 that were hanging out at the back of the boat, was taken on a recent pelagic, 25 miles off shore from Wollongong, Australia.
Nikon 200-400m f/4 at 400mm; hand-held
