She is a friend of a collegue of mine at work. The designer is only just starting out and I am paying her. (Though I suspect that if I get a 20yr experienced graphic designer, I would be paying MUCH more, probably more than I can afford ATM)

No different than other professionals. There are wedding photographers with varying degress of talent and experience with corresponding price points. Couples have to decide what they can afford. What could someone hiring you to shoot their next event expect verses a seasoned pro with 20 years experience? Is the extra cost worth it to them, or can they be happy with the level of talent you're capable of providing?

Know what you're getting youself into and choose your priorities. Life is full of decisions. Good luck.

When you say the designer is "just starting out as a designer," does that mean she just decided to be a designer sometime or what? It seems kind of random that you've gotten four wildly different options. Did she ask questions? Did you provide enough information? Does she know the fundamentals of design (that tree logo would be a nightmare at any small size and the signature logo looks like it was made crudely with the pen tool). i don't mean to sound harsh on her but it seems all these are a bit random and all over the place.
