I was having trouble with the ball head of my tripod (a little loose) so I decided to take it apart and now I'm not quite sure how to assemble it correctly. Or at least once assembled, it is much worse. Anyone know of a user guide or parts guide out there? I haven't been able to find anything in my searches so far and no luck with a response from Monfrotto yet.

I've attached pictures of it dissembled. Its a pretty basic tripod. The little metal piece (for lack of a better word) rotates around the metal part attached to the tripod. It appears that either the lock from the head or the small screw should get threaded through the sliding piece and hole in the tripod somehow but I can't figure it out. The thread seems to shallow to go through the hole and the lock doesn't look like it sticks in that far when locked. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, I actually just found that as well. It looks like I'm assembling it correctly and not missing any pieces so I'm thinking a part may be broken or not working properly. I recently bought a nicer tripod but was hoping to hang on to this for hiking trips as a lightweight option. Maybe I can find a replacement head for it.

*** On that note it appears I may need a new column if I want a new head for this particular tripod? Anybody ever replaced the head on a 725b digi?

For the benefit of whoever might read this later, I figured out what happened. I lost the silver piece shown in the picture without noticing. For some reason its not depicted in the parts list.

Thanks for posting these pics! It helped me figure out how to disassemble mine. Upon further exploration, it appears the silver metal stud on the end of the column is attached with a 13mm bolt accessible through the bottom of the column with several ratchet extensions. I couldn't get mine free yet, but I'm planning to remove the ball head again to place a strong metal post through the hole in the stud. That should give me some grip for torquing on the bolt. If it's constructed the way I think, I should be able to put another head on there.

As for the slipping column, I'm going to try a couple of options to increase friction when the red tab is locked down - maybe some foam tape. Will update...if I remember!
