SD Card shows data but doesnt show photos

I know there is a sticky on here, but want to make sure that that is what I am looking at:

Two days ago I shot a bunch of photos in a cave. Immediately before leaving the cave I reviewed the photos on the camera. An hour and half later when I put the SD card in the computer over a hundred photos were missing from my SD card starting on IMG_9448 and running to IMG_9999. IMG_0001 to IMG_0040 (which were in a second folder) were still there.

I immediately moved the existing photos off the SD card only to see this. Apparently even though there are *no visible files* in all the folder on the card there is still 8.1GB of data on it. Which happens to equate the amount of photos and videos I am missing. The camera also shows this amount of data on the card and multiple computers say the same. These photos are *really* important to me and I need to get them back.

Thoughts? Suggestions???

What are you using to download? Looks like you went from folder \DCIM\100_CANON to \DCIM\101_CANON and whatever you were downloading only picked up the files in 101_CANON. Open the card in File Manager and you should see both those directories and all the files in them.
