Look who was just terrorizing my feeders. Even has a guilty look on his face. Shot with the my Nikon 1 V2. Had to be quick before he took another death dive :)

It has happened to me too. My feeders are within 10 feet of trees or shrubs which offer protection. It is after all part of nature.

Oh actually I fully embrace it. This guy and a few of his buddies have been attacking my feeders for a few years. I marvel at the speed at which the hawk flies and how quick the sparrows run for cover (which I also have nearby) The times I witness them they seem to have about a 50% kill ratio. They gotta eat too ;)

I hadn't seen our local avian terror in nearly two months and then a couple days ago he surprised me with a high speed low pass right over my head ... "just checking the traps" I suppose. :-)

Excellent photo.

Happens at my feeders too. I'm not biased. I feed all the birds; sometimes inadvertently.

Great outlook, one which I share with you. These guys I see every few days and that's just when I am around to see them :) I was sitting at my desk the other day and saw a bunch of the sparrow flush, I rushed out to see him with one of the poor guys right in front of him. They both crashed into the side of my house (with a large clunk I might add) and Mr. Sharpie caught him in mid air with his talons. Then went up to this same tree to have his treat until one of my dogs made him leave with his prize. Can't believe how entertaining the feeders can be :)
