I'm completely lost on Yongnuo flash models. It looks like there is 8-10 different models with 3-4 different versions of each. Im just looking for something that is on par with a 430EX or 580EX.

180* rotation in both directions and ETTL are the most important features.

That's funny :p
I am lost on their flashes too, but I will tell their newest 600EX-RT is your best bet.
It has radio built in, so all u need is the YN-E3 RT Radio controller. With these 2 not only u have on camera flash, but also a very good radio controlled off-camera flash.

Yongnuo's website isn't very helpful. You're better off looking to a retailer's website for help sifting through the options. Since you want ETTL, I think you'd want the 568ex II. B&H just recently added Yonguo gear, so as they begin to add more inventory they'll be a useful source of info.

Well then that cancels out several models.

The 568exII has a 180* by 180* swivel head, ETTL, and power rating that's inbetween the 430ex and 580ex. I beleive the yn600ex-rt and possible the yn500ex can also swivel 180 both ways. I can't say definitively as I haven't owned either. Hopefully owners of those can chime in and give a definitive answer.

The 565ex however can only do 180 and 90.

The 468 does ettl and is closer to the guide number of the 430 but I think it only does 270 rotation. I'm in the same boat looking at flashes, leaning towards the 568.

Oh and just on a side note, did a quick look at flash havoc's review of the YN-500ex. I was mistaken, it only does 270* of rotation.

Hi Jimmer.

I have 2 of the 568's and they are excellent flash guns they have not let me down and a fraction of the price for the Canon equivalents.

:-)
