In ACR you can select files then press [control]-[L] to start the slide show.

After viewing, you press [escape] to exit.

However, when you exit, all files selected before starting the slideshow are no longer selected - just the file you were viewing when [esc] was pressed.

Is there a way to exit slideshow with the same files selected as were selected when you went in?

Do you mean Bridge, rather than ACR?

Yes, Bridge.

Is there a way to select files, look at them in slideshow, then come out of slideshow with the files selected?

Don't use Slideshow. Just hit Space Bar.

Appreciate your reply, but can't do that. I am spot checking various selected HDR files to compare and ensure alignment. The only way that can be done is to rapidly paginate back and forth thru the files comparing movement, reference points, and so forth. Hence, selecting multiple files and full-screen reviewing them in Bridge with the slideshow.

After selecting files from sets here and there to check, upon existing slideshow, the selections are lost.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to exit slideshow with the same files that were selected when slideshow was entered. This is not relegated only to HDR processing. This would be a problem on any occasion someone is reviewing and comparing any two or more files for any purpose.

I use Bridge like you describe to review similar images. Try this:

First, select the files you want. Then apply a lable or rating. Then Filter that lable or rating. Now your slide show or space bar review will be restricted to just those images and you can enter/exit the preview without losing position or selection.

I use labels for other needs, so I use ratings for this. Simply clear the ratings and filter when done.

You can also use Collections or Stacks, but the set-up and clean-out for those is more work.

Thanks, Red.

I was kinda doing that by doing a star rating, the slideshow, then upon slideshow exit I would hunt down those with the star rating and re-select them.

However, your method improves on that.

I was just hoping there was a way to select, slideshow, then exit with selections still intact. But there apparently is not, so workarounds need to be employed.

Kinda sloppy programming on Adobe's part IMHO, but that's for another thread.

Thanks all.

Yes there is, the files all have to be in the same folder.

Sorry, I don't understand. What does the slideshow provide that spacebar view does not?

A useless post IMHO. Instead of saying "yes there is" then spending time making disparaging remarks, you could have used the same time to explain how.

All files selected are ALWAYS in the same folder.

Knowing that, explain how a few files (in the same folder) can be selected, and after a fullscreen slideshow is run on them, a user can exit slideshow with the same files still selected.

I think spacebar basically runs the slideshow.

Do this:

In browser select 3 files
press spacebar
use your right and left arrows to go back and forth to review the files
press [esc] to exit the slideshow
only one file is selected (the one you were viewing when you exited), and all the other files that were selected before you began the slideshow are no longer selected.

No, you're mistaken. It keeps the files selected, I promise.

Space Bar and slideshow are NOT the same thing.

EDIT: Just to confirm, you can't hit Esc, you have to hit Space Bar again to exit the full screen mode.

I honestly appreciate you taking time to help. However, it did not work for me.

I opened bridge, selected three files, hit space bar, arrowed back and forth between them, then pressed spacebar again to exit. Only one of the three files was selected - the one being viewed when exiting.

Perhaps it's a version thing. I'm using PS CS5.

But thanks, I appreciate it.

Edit: perhaps it's something in preferences. I'll take a look. Thanks.

Edit 2: I could not find anything in preferences. Also, while in slideshow I pressed H for help then L for slideshow settings. Nothing in there either. Probably a version thing.

I am using Bridge CC (latest version) and it does not work for me either. Only the last "space bar displayed" image stays selected and other selections are lost. I think the "rating" or "labelling" is the only solution.
Another solution could be to move the selected files to a temp. folder.

Actually, it -DOES- work, but only if certain keypresses are done to set it up.

It's wierdness, but here's the skippy:

open bridge
select 3 files
press space bar
arrow key back and forth
press space bar to exit
does not work - only the last file selected

BUT do this:

open bridge
select 3 files
press ctrl-L to enter slideshow
arrow back and forth
press the space bar a few times to play and pause the slide show
press escape to exit
(only one file selected, but...)
select the 3 files again
press space bar
arrow back and forth
press space bar to exit
this time the three files are still selected!

Something to do with using the space bar to play / pause first

Like I said, wierdness (and perhaps some programming slop)
