I'm guessing not a choice many make. But I'm looking for a fast (f/1.4) walkaround lens for my SL1, and the Sigma 30mm seems to fit the bill and has the FOV I'd like.

But the 35mm would also work on my 6D and looks to have slightly better IQ, although it's also larger (big consideration because I want to use this lens primarily on the SL1) and more pricey.

Also a bit concerned about reported front focusing issues with the Sigma lenses, as my SL1 does not have AFMA.

Remember even the 30mm f/1.4 is fairly hefty and weighs more than he SL1 does by a couple of oz. My other thought is that you might want to think longer term. Bodies come and go, but good lenses tend to stick around far longer.

To continue that line of reasoning though lenses will retain value fairly well so there is less need to buy strictly for the long term future. you can buy a lens that better suits you for the short term in the knowledge that in the long term if you need something different you won't suffer much depreciation when it comes time to sell.

Get the 35 f/2 IS USM instead. 100 grams lighter than the 30mm, so it will be balance better on your SL1.
Better focus accuracy than both Sigmas ofcourse. IS a plus for non-moving objects. Much cheaper than the Sigma 35mm A, slightly more expensive than Sigma 30mm f/1.4 'A, but inlike 30, it will work terrific on FF.

I have both Canon 35 F2 lenses, and they are both good, with accurate AF on a number of different bodies. I highly recommend the IS version. If you are getting the Sigma lens for the SL1, make sure you buy it from a store with a good exchange/return policy.
You can be pretty sure the Canons will give you accurate AF. The 30A and 35A may require the dock, and that may or may not do it for you.
I do have a Sigma 50 macro that I like very much, but it is not an F1.4 lens.

I keep seeing this type of comment thrown around on this forum. My experience is, however, contradictory. I'm having focus issues with my 24-105 at longer distances (which cannot be fixed by MA since it focuses fine up close but if it was a Sigma, it could be fixed with the dock!), and my 50mm 1.4 had focus issues, as well as my old 50mm 1.8 Mk II. My Sigma lenses on the other hand, which include both the non-A version of the 30, and now the 35A, have all been perfect.
