Before I buy a cf card reader. I need to clarify if I could use the card reader to upload edited pictures to the Ixus V3. I tried uploading pictures to the Ixus V3 but it didn't work. Would a cf card reader enable me to upload pictures to the Ixus and view it there?

Only if the filenames and folders were correct,. as in identical to what the Ixus creates,.. and probably only if the images are indentical in format.

Not entirely true. I use Paintshop Pro and a card reader to create slide shows to show on the family TV. The following steps summerise the process I follow to create a slide show.

1/ On the PC copy all images you want to a new folder.
2/ Using PSP batch mode resize these images so they are around 640*480 pixel jpgs at about 15% compression. (This is plenty good enough for the TV and keeps the card upload time small)
3/ Rename all the images to the camera's format of IMGxxxx.JPG and number them in the order you want the camera to show them. Hint. I usually number in 10's!
4/ Put an empty CF card in the camera and switch in on in picture mode and take a picture.
5/ Put the CF card in the card reader and trash/move the picture to the PC.
6/ Copy the slideshow images into the folder that picture was in.

You will not get a preview picture on the camera when you zoom out - you get a big ? instead!

You can later use the camera to re-format the CF card and take more pictures. Don't take pictures on the card without using the delete all command or the reformat command using the camera on that card! If you keep the slide show on the PC then you can re-upload it any time by following the steps above from stepo 4.

I find this a great way to show my pictures to small groups of people. Nearly everyone has a TV with a SCART socket these days and an adapter to use the camera with scart is readily available and cheap.

Is your method also applicable to the Ixus V3?
