Taken in the Masai Mara. Lions are totally oblivious to human beings as long as you stay inside the vehicle. Get out and you may become a quick meal.

Great shot, it amazes me how close you can get to lions & them seemingly not noticing you. A good pose also, well caught.

Amazing detail, and love the moment captured. Well timed on the tongue lap also.

Great shot and sharp.

Funny you mention about being out of the vehicle though.

I was in the Mara North last year and we went on a walking safari on our last morning. We'd seen quite a few lions over the 3 days we were there while in the vehicle and they weren't bothered at all but during the walk we'd cut the wind on the upside of a couple of lioness at about 60 mts. They both jumped straight up, took one look at us and bolted in the other direction.
While I wouldn't be wandering around on foot anywhere there behaviour was totally different to how they reacted with the vehicle
