Hi all, anybody have any experience with this combo and if so what brand TC have you used? I understand the Kenko 300 pro has problems with the 7D2?

What about the offerings from Sigma and I think Tamron has one also? Trying to find more info about the various TC's including the Canon one but there really isnt a lot of comments out there on the net. I thought people would be all over the combo with the 7D2 considering the updated AF at F8 but doesnt seem to be the case. Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards

Skidlid

I loaned my Kenko 1.4X 300 DGX to a friend to try with his new 7DII and 400 5.6. Not only didn't it work he had to take the battery out of the camera to get it to shut off.

Thanks for the reply Hulgar, it confirms what I have already heard about the Kenko, so that one is now completely ruled out :). I actually ran across a Nikon shooter who has just gotten himself this very combo with the Canon 1.4 iii to try out and he quite likes it though he noted the AF was a bit slow with the 1.4 tc attached. He shoots a Nikkor 500mm VRII and a Sigma 300-800mm f/5.6 so I think he may be a bit spoilt in the AF department :)

No, it's a pretty slow combo. Yu'd likely, but not always, be better off cropping to get that same FOV.

My Kenko 1.5x works fine with the 7d2. Have used it on the 500 f4 and the 100-400 v1.

Everyday use: 7D2, 1.4x v3 Canon TC (sometimes the 2x v2 Canon TC), Canon 500mm f4 L IS USM; 6D, 24-105L

Lots of used Canon Extender 1.4 ll's at Adorama & B&H in the $200 + range with 90 day warranty, & 30 day Return.

I just got a 1.4-ll Demo with Canon USA Warranty for $246 at Adorama.
