I went out today with my new 7D MKII and was going to use my 400mm lens. But because I did not store the lens properly I could not use it due to severe condensation that would not clear up in time. So I was left with my $99.00 nifty fifty and that is what I took this image with today around 11:00 am. I was pretty impressed with the image quality from this little lens. Thanks for viewing.

I know you can get condensation when going from an air conditioned car to a hot beach, but I didn't know the reverse is true. What is the correct way to prevent condensation?

What I did wrong was I had left the lens in the car overnight and brought it in the house to check it before leaving to go shot. Bringing it indoors from minus -20 degres caused the condensation. I should have just left it in the car and it would have been fine.

What an awesome image. It's not the lens, it's the photographer!

I think the proper thing to do is put it in a plastic bag and let it come to room temperature before removing it from the bag.

you got your moneys worth out of that lens- great shot. we have condensation problems down here all the time due to air conditioning and high humidity- when I get fogged up I turn on the car heater and direct it towards the lens not as big a temp difference as you have but might be worth a try

WOW! what a very nice shot.....and with a 50. How were you able to get so close to it? Where you in a blind or did fate just play out? Again outstanding!
