I booked a trip to St. Thomas. I'm wondering what I should bring?

I was initially thinking of bring my laptop for the week, and maybe my Canon 5D3, but I've read about thefts and I don't know if I even want to worry about it.

Now I'm leaning towards just bringing my phone, iPad, and Fuji X100s (with teleconverters).

Anyone have any experience with the USVI? Is it safe to leave things in your hotel?

I did decide to rent a car. Any particularly photogenic places to visit?

We've never stayed in St Thomas but we've been there several times on our way to St John. We rented villas in St John and they all had a wall safe.... I wasn't into photography back then which is a shame because the birds would eat sugar out of our hands.... and the hummingbirds were comfortable with humans around. It would have been perfect.

Like most places where tourists go, you do have to be careful and be aware of your surroundings, etc.
