The DC3 of The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight landing back at RAF Conningsby after a display practice with the Spitfire and Hurricane in my pictures above and a rather more modern Typhoon also based at Conningsby.

Did they say that it was a DC-3? The military versions were designated C-47, R4D, and probably a half-dozen other numbers. Just sayin'. ; )

Yes! I was going to say Dakota, which is the RAF designation, but then thought that people not from the UK may not be familiar with the name so trying to be clever I then used used the wrong designation! As you say it should have been C47.

I want to die peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandfather.
Not screaming, terrified, like his passengers.

Your photos are very sharp - the way I like them.

From the Wings Over Camarillo air show this weekend. This is Vicky Benzing in a 1940 PT-17 Stearman.
Canon 400 DO II and 1.4xIII, 560mm. I shot at 1/200s to capture prop blur, but I can barely see it. -?

It’s a Hispano HA-1112-M1L Buchon, basically a Messerschmitt BF109G with a Rolls Royce Merlin engine fitted. It is in the ‘Yellow 7’ colours it was painted in for the Battle of Britain movie in 1968.

Thanks! I tend to forget how lucky I am to work in an environment where, especially this time of the year, we regularly have Spitfires and Hurricanes dropping in for fuel or just to visit which is great!

I can add a few more Spitfire photos. The first one belongs to Vintage Wings Canada & I believe was restored in house. The other one belongs to the Collins Foundation & both were entertaining us before the Red Arrows performance last Tuesday.
