Nice shots but there's a green tint on them?
On my monitor the only green tint I see is on the canopy of the first image. Could that be normal?

I find shooting model airplanes much harder than real planes, especially at slow shutter speeds. Those little planes move very fast! Thank You. I agree they are harder to shoot than full scale both because of their speed & relative size. They are also a lot closer a lot of the time than at any event featuring full scale in most countries where there are strong safety rules. Worse yet I'll be tracking one getting my panning down & suddenly it shoots up at a sharp angle & does a victory roll, loop etc. You never know what the pilot will do unless you stand beside them but I usually have 4 manned pilot stations spread out across the flight line. I had 2 pilots do bomb drops at that event so I stood beside them & they did a count down so I could start shooting in time to catch the bombs as they fell. They were shot with my 7D2 & 28-300 L IS . 7D2_8106 IMAGE LINK: http://www.flickr.com …/album-72157671301736601/ 7D2_8257 A skill is developed through constant practice with a passion to improve, not bought.

My answer is a big YES & I've posted a few shots it was used for. These are from the last Radio Control event which is what I shoot throughout the summer because there are lots of these events & very few full scale events in the region. All shot with a 1D4 & the Sigma hand held in Tv mode. All models are at full speed, which is 100 MPH & up & usually no more that 150 feet away from me. ![]() INGR5257 ![]() INGR5572 ![]() INGR5969 ![]() INGR6265 http://www.flickr.com …/album-72157671301736601/ INGR6919 I wonder how the Sigma 120-400 would get on in a similar situation, I believe the AF is very similar.

(2 edits in all) | Aug 12, 2016 08:05 | #607 I haven't owned or shot the Sigma 120-400 but way back in 08 when I started shooting the R/C events I owned the Sigma 80-400 OS and the 50-500 non OS & both were sharp copies. They however did not have limit switches & once you lost focus the lenses would hunt from one end to the other trying to find & lock onto the plane which was pretty much too far away if they did lock on. I sold both & the Canon 100-400 L IS became my long "go to" lens until this season. So far I haven't used it once after trying out & now relying on the Sigma 150-600 C. I have no idea whether the Sport version would be better but there is absolutely no way I could work with the extra weight doing what I do because I'm on the flight line from about 9:30 AM until 4:00 PM non stop. cicopo Goldmember More info Post edited over 7 years ago by cicopo. | Aug 15, 2016 22:32 | #613 Thanks. I'm the official flight line photographer for a Giant Scale event that's on this weekend, and it's supposed to be the largest in Canada & 3rd largest in North America which means it's one down from yours. Ours is on a very nice grass field & best of all the sun is at my back for a big part of the day (when it's sunny). Hopefully we'll have good weather but rain or shine I'm expected to be there & it's a 2 hour drive each way. How many pilots (roughly) does your event draw? I don't think there was a "official photographer" there. I go to church with the guy that runs it, so I asked if I could shoot it. I don't fly, but my dad has been flying since he was a kid, so I'm familiar with the safety etc. Images in the Backcountry
