Back to the present, here are some shots from the 2023 Air Power over Hampton Roads show on May 6 at Joint Base Langley-Eustis (Hampton, VA).

At the time, I thought the Tamron A2 35-135 was considered to be a pretty good lens. It was certainly the best lens I had owned up until then (which, admittedly, was a pretty low bar).

Here's an Su-24 (I think) that was at the same show. In 1992, it still felt very novel to see Russian planes at shows in the West.

That is indeed Su-24.

I haven't had that one, but I had the 35-70, which did give surprisingly sharp pictures.

Oh well - I might add a few more from the same show (Rissala 1986).

Duncan, fan of your work. On these mustang shots I noticed you changed speed, stop, and ISO. Are you making these adjustments on the fly, on different acft passes, or when they go in for halftime? I try and change it up for rotors, props, slo jets and fast jets. Normally once I have the dial-in shot or two on a particular aircraft then I'm off to the races with that setting. I'm starting to feel a bit lazy

I am sure Duncan wont mind me jumping in here - the top image was taken with the EF 500F4 II plus 2x plus EF-RF Adapter, the bottom with the RF 100-500.

Duncan works with 2 x R5 Bodies, and dials each one in to suit the lens in subject in question, hence the different setting for these two images.

What a great day today. We went to RAF Coningsby and we was treat to an amazing display. The BBMF went up and did a great show for us spectators, ending with a Typhoon flyin behind the Lancaster. I tried my best to get good shots but was on a ladder, shaking and restricted.. But here's a few.
