*sigh* I miss Chino. And all the other air shows I used to make it to when I lived in SoCal. But Chino was special for the old warbirds.
Belas, what a great tribute to the F4 -- a fantastic powerhouse of an aircraft. The FA-18 seems girlish in comparison.
And speaking of tributes. Nowadays I wish I would have shot many more pics of the F-14 than I did. Because I have only a very few real keepers, and they're all film. And unfortunately the F14 is history -- totally. Well, except for a few that might still be flying around in Iran. Here are six of my best, none of which are critically sharp unfortunately. These were taken at the 1987 Point Magu Navy Airshow. Point Magu is on the Southern California coast, next to Ventura. I still clearly remember it was a rather dreary overcast day, so I was struggling with slow shutter speeds, cuz I was using long lenses and Kodachrome 64. The lenses were a Canon FD 300mm f/4 and a Sigma 600mm f/8 mirror. The cameras were a pair of original Canon F-1s.
