VPN isn't cloud storage. It's a secure way to access network storage remotely as if you were local, which is why I didn't include it.

The term "The Cloud" has been taken over by marketers. What you're talking about is using an online backup service. They work fine, but for large data volumes can be impractical.

I'm an Amazon certified AWS solution architect, which as "cloud" goes does meet the definition well - elastic, scalable storage and compute. It's not really applicable for consumers, bit much effort, you need a service running on AWS if you want to go that way. I don't recommend it for individuals, use a managed service.
