Could someone explain the difference between the YN-560 and the YN-568EX flashes?

I've looked online and am unable to figure out why the YN-568 is nearly double the cost ($72 vs $137).

EDIT: I've looked on B&H and it appears as though the YN-568 has TTL where the YN-560 doesn't but the YN-560 has wireless and the YN-568 does not. It still doesn't seem to justify a double in price.

The 560 is a manual flash. The 568 is an ETTL flash capable of using canon's auto flash exposure system.

So the ETTL is the only difference?

Its the major difference. There are several variants of the 560 that have improvements including the 560III thst has a built in radio receiver to go with the yn603 triggerd snd the 560IV which has a transciver built in. You really need to compare the feature set as they hsve very different purposes.

The 568ex II also has HSS, second curtain sync, 360* swivel head, and optical master mode built in (as well as optical slave mode too).

If this is going to be your first flash I'd suggest getting a flash like the 568ex II that offers both ETTL and manual controls. That way you have ETTL when the situation is suited for it but still have manual controls when you want full control of the lighting.

If you already have an ETTL flash and are looking for a good manual off camera flash then the 560 is a great flash

I have the 460 model which is ridiculously cheap, but it's pretty good build-quality. Manual only with camera or it is triggered by any other flash when in slave mode.
