I brought my gear to photograph my daughter's softball team and was pleasantly surprised to see several shore birds at the edge of a small pond at the facility. Figured I'd grab a few while I was there early morning.
Not sure of the ID of the first one. A quick search has me stumped. Can't see anything with that color plus the red eyes. Anyone know this guy?
The second is of course a Great Blue Heron.

Probably a tricolored heron. With that lighting I wouldn't put much stock in the eye color.

I saw him fly in and land but it was dark and cloudy and I am still not wired in for getting BIF sharp with this rig yet. In poor conditions I am even more pathetic!! I will post these with the pre-apology that they suck but it you love these birds then....I did much better after he landed!!!
