Another look at a weird looking bird! Taken near sundown from a moving boat.....tough conditions!! ISO 2500, 600mm

Great job under those conditions....! I have never tried to shot from a boat but I can imagine that you have to handhold to avoid vibrations from the engine...?

I do it all the time, usually the boat/crew is catering to photographers and they are going easy and trying to keep things calm. Even when that happens it is still challenging!! Especially with heavy lenses handheld!!! The tiger heron pic above this one was taken on the same boat ride, btw.

Where in Costa Rica, Ed? I saw these species in Cano Negro a couple of years ago!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Tarcoles river. They have boats you can go on to see the birds and the crocodiles that rule the river. The boat drivers know the crocs personally and call them to the boats. And get in the water with them.....unbelievable sight. Crazy......

Thanks!
Everything is good around here now. Some of Matagorda and Wharton County flooded during Harvey but getting back to normal now. Sadly I was one of the ones that flooded but have been back in my house for a couple months.
