I'm a mouse click away from ordering the Cheetah CL-360. Currently I have speed light setups, Bowens Softboxes etc for location work. I shoot weddings, Seniors, and events. I often find I struggle with a single 430EX for needing power, I also find recycle times too long. Are there any negatives to going with the CL-360? I use the Phottix Odin system and plan to trigger them by mounting the Cells TX, on an Odin receiver. I believe that will give me all functionality as well as allowing me remote power adjustment via the Cells. If this is incorrect please let me know. I would like to have remote power adjustment and the ability to use HSS, as well as incorporating several other speed lights into the mix, as well as triggering strobes via my Atlas receivers.

For those of you that use these, do you find yourself using the light specific modifiers, or are you using the Bowens style speed light bracket and other modifiers? I plan on picking up a Phottix Multiboom and soft box as well.

Pros? Cons?

I've also looked at the Phottix Indra but I'm afraid I would get tired of its size, and for the price I can buy two Einsteins. I'm not really concerned about TTL.

Thanks!

The Cells does not control the power. You need a FT-16 from Godox for that.

You can mount the FT-16 on a third party trigger to get pre-triggering.

Here you find more than 5000 postings over this flash:

So I do not need to purchase the cells in addition to what comes with the cheetah light kit?

In my posting you can find the link to the page describing most of the available triggers in combination with Godox stuff:

I would pick up the kit with the CL-TX transmitter and USB CL-RX and also a spare CL-TX. That way you can mount one of the CL-TX's on your Odin RX and keep the other one with you to set power remotely. I keep my second on a lanyard around my neck but a pocket works too. You are not using the handheld TX for triggering. That is done by your Odin. This is just for remote power adjustment.

Or you can do this if you only want to use the single CL-TX that comes with the kit. Mount the USB receiver on the side of the CL-360. Hook your Odin receiver directly to the CL-360's sync input with a short cable. The 360 accepts both standard screw type PC sync or 3.5mm plug. Trigger the flash with the Odin system and adjust the power remotely with the CL-TX on your person communicating with the USB CL-RX plugged into the side of the unit.

Both of these methods work great. I've used them myself. By the way, the Godox/Neewer FT-16 is the same product as the Cheetah CL-TX. You can use the terms and the units interchangeably. I'd buy the equipment from Ed at Cheetah though because his customer service both before and after the sale is second to none. Shipping defective equipment back to China is not for the feint of heart. I know this from personal experience.

Oh, and buy it! You will love the power. Someone once said the 360 would be what you'd get when a studio strobe and a speedlite spent time on a deserted island. I think that's a perfect description. Way more powerful than my Canon 600's yet very compact and portable. I'd also personally suggest the 2.75 meter cord as an accessory. I usually hang the battery unit off the lightstand I've got the flash on and the standard 5 meter cord has a lot of extra cable to be coiled up when the battery and the unit are close together. I'd also strongly recommend picking up the 2 into 1 cable. It plugs into both power sockets on the battery pack and feeds the combined output to the flash. This cut's recycle time nearly in half!

^ yes to the two to one cord. For some reason I just ordered one and wish I had one for each unit. I also have the usb power port. It has come in handy for keeping my phone going when using it for live view shooting with my 6D. Or even powering a small set of speakers when on location!

Awesome, my plan was just a single TX mounded on my Odin receiver. I wouldn't think of buying from anyone but Edward. I've dealt with him on previous purchases, and frankly, I just like the guy and love to support him! So do you guys that use these find yourself using the Bowens mount speed light gear, or the Light specific modifiers? I have speed light gear already, and was thinking of grabbing one of the larger umbrella octoboxes (right now I only have Q-Box 24's. I'd like something larger for full body shots if I'm going to have all this power!

I don't own any Bowens modifiers so can't help you there. I use the Pro-S bracket Ed sells when I use it with my Qbox. It just friction fits under the side flaps and holds well. The nice thing about that mount is there is no stress on the hot foot on the flash since the head is clamped in the rubber jaws of the mount and the body just hangs from the head. I also use this mount with my 43 and 60 inch Photek Softlighter umbrella soft boxes since the Pro S bracket also has an umbrella shaft mount. It is really versatile in this regard.

For my Westcott Apollo umbrella style softboxes I go a different route and use a 16 inch Phottix Mini Boom that allows me to mount the 360 with the head on the horizontal axis of the umbrella shaft.

I'm sure it would also work well with Bowens mount modifiers. That is the beauty of this flash and bracket combo. I'm still finding new ways to use it with different modifiers.

I have the 43" Cheetah quicksilver and the 33 inch white collapsable beauty dish. They both work well but i much prefer the 43. Both with Bowens mount.
