It's ok - I like the colors - however the foreground isn't all that interesting to me and personally I'd much rather see more of the hills and trees silhouettes, the sky and clouds (if there were any).

Thanks for sharing!

Agreed! I love the colours, the scene, and even the sand in the water, but I think a lower angle would have given you all the same with more skyline.

From this perspective of this shot, I think a vertical shot ( or crop) would have done more for this image. Now if your camera was down close to the wood, a landscape perspective would work best

I think it's all the angle, bend your knees more/lower the tripod and this is top notch.

There was a little drop off into the water. like a little 2 foot "cliff" lol. I put my tripod as low as it goes which is a couple inches off the ground. I could have put my tripod in the water but I just bought my 70d so I'm really protective of it still haha

Haha understandable. I consider myself the world's foremost expert at destroying tripods, I say throw the strap around your arm so the camera can't hit the water and jump right in there :P

I think the biggest shortfall of the image is the lack of a compelling subject. The chunk of wood isn't all that interesting. Having an item of foreground interest can make for a strong image, but the item has to say something. In the case of this shot, omitting the log and focusing on the colors of the sky and the reflection on the water might have made the image more interesting to the viewer.
