Advices buying used 7D2

Tommorow will be buying slighly used 7D Mark II.

1. Which program, can tell me it's shutter count?
2. There is infamous > 100 pages 7D Mark II AF issues thread, so what I should check before buying it?

1. Unless they sat and left it on high speed continuous just to test the buffer for 3 months straight, you probably shouldn't even worry about the shutter count.
2. No. Most of the issues are the user, not the camera.

I hope the used cost is worth it. It's $1800 new and can be had for less still new. Depending on the discount for used, should tell you everything you need to know.

Nothing. You should, however, check the manual before using the camera.

I would read the thread. You will find several people that have sent their 7D2 to canon to have AF issues diagnosed and fixed due to legitimate defects in assembly. They are happy campers now...but these clearly were not related to not "reading the manual" as the post above implies.

IMHO, when you have an infamous 100 pages about issues, even knowing that people usually make a lot of "noise" for nothing, it might be possible that there is some true somewhere ...
I would ask to the seller why he sell it, and if the body have any issue regarding the AF system, just in case.

Look at this >200 page thread if you have questions about the quality of photos from the 7D2 camera. These photographers know how to use it and give great advice concerning settings.

You need to test it on a moving subject. I returned 2, my 3rd is looking very good. The tracking sucked on the previous 2. This one is good.

Reading the manual for the third time resolved your issue, obviously.

Joking, of course - I remember the 1D3 "user errors" all too well.

Manual is still the wrapper. Operating a camera isn't rocket science. -it either works or it doesn't. 3rd time is a charm.

What, when Canon admitted a fault and recalled the affected batch? Yes, I remember that well. However, I've totally forgotten about them doing the same for the 7D and the 70D - both of which also suffered from equally bad problems (so I seem to recall).

Yes, in the case of the 1DmkIII it took Rob Galbraith's reputation and persistence plus a full HD of samples shot in the presence of Canon representatives with a thoroughly checked camera they brought along, for Canon to finally issue the recall.
