So, I've been having a few issues with my 1D Mk iv lately. See: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=17380153

I got a somewhat different but still similar issue today. At one point, after switching my camera on I notice that the settings seemed weird. Had a look at the menu and firmware was 1.0.0 again. Which actually seems to be the internal Canon firmware.

What boggles my mind however is that I have only read about people having access to the factory menu after coming back from repairs and the technician forgets to clear it. In my case the camera is just back to the normal firmware after switching it off and back on again.

Does anyone have any more information about the 1D factory menu? Can you access it (on purpose) specifically by any chance?

Couldn't really have a play around with the factory menu unfortunately! Have a bit of a bad feeling about this though. I haven't been able to find anything about anyone accessing the factory menu on the 1D IV purposely or accidentally - only instances I found are where Canon techs merely forgot about it...

And anyone knows what KIZU is!?

KIZU is a rail station in Kyoto.

my guess is error codes

the below from a Japanese - English translation webpage:
Japanese: English

1. kizu bruise
2. kizu cut
3. kizu flaw
4. kizu gash
5. kizu hurt
6. kizu injury
7. kizu scratch
8. kizu weak point
9. kizu wound

I had a good read of a 1D MKI III service manual & it doesn't mention factory menus, wouldn't surprise me if they exist and just need the correct button press to access.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
TF posting: here :-)

It's been a while, but thought I'd post my findings in case someone has the misfortune of encountering this issue.

I noticed that this behaviour was mainly occurring after spending a considerable time in very humid environment. I chucked in two bags of silica gel in the bag and (knock on wood) hasn't done it again since.

Strange, and may just be a coincidence, but something seems to have sorted it out.
