We’ve all had times when we’ve made a mistake with our photography, wrong settings, shots that don’t follow the accepted “rules” of the craft, accidental shutter releases, you name it. Sometimes those mistakes turn out to be something special. Let’s see your best and most wonderful mistakes.

This challenge begins when posted, and will end at 8:00 P.M. Pacific time Thursday January 29, 2015

Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

Standard Rules apply:
1. Camera - Any DSLR Camera
2. Time - any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size - Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post-Processing - do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting - * ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.* Photo Title in the first line of the post.* Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used. 6. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.
9. Have FUN! One challenge every week, on the following schedule: * New Topic - After winner is declared. * Posting Starts - Right after topic is announced. * Posting Ends - 8:00 P.M. Pacific time Thursday January 29, 2015 * Winner from this competition decides the theme of the next one (and judges it for a winner) after this competition is closed.

I was focused on the heeler and the wild calf that was almost bucking. I knew something was getting in the way of the shot but I had no idea what I captured until I got home and downloaded the pictures.

Smugglers Path, Corrour, Scotland.

Misfire due to using a 600D, Magic Lantern, "unreliable" Meike grip.

As I was taking the camera out whilst walking ML tried to fire off 7 shots for an HDR using manual settings from my last picture 15mins before, it got to shot 5 before I turned it off, this was shot 4 - the only one without movement blur.

Focus, we don't need no stinking focus

I got done with a customer in San Marcos and thought the sky looked promising for a epic sunset, check current time and time for that days sunset and decided I should be able to make it to Oceanside. While exiting the freeway I could see the sun was already near the horizon and was already set by the time I got down to the beach(which was fine since that was the time I wanted to capture. I the rush to get some shots in before the colors were gone I forgot to even focus, I estimate that it was set at 1-2m as only about 1/4 of the pier is within the DOF. I lucked out that it was a low tide and the reflections are within the DOF along with the cloud movement from the long exposure it's not immediately noticed that some of things that should be sharp are soft. I could have also just stopped down more and get DOF out to infinity with a bonous of pointer light stars.
