Can this be changed to a floating button below a browser's toolbar? It's annoying to switch back to my browser from another app, and have the browser scrolled to the top of the webpage. If I can disable this, please let me know.

Thanks!

I can add to todo list to make a switch in FYEO to disable it, but I won't add any buttons for "go up" command, sorry.

Just interested: why do you click the page margin to return to the browser? Or is that action using a mouse or touch?

Thanks for the reply Pekka. I generally have my browser wider than the width of the forum layout showing excess margin. It's a habit developed when browsing websites so I don't click on any links in the body of the website and get taken away from the page of interest. This is when I use a mouse on my desktop PC.

Never even knew this existed as I typically access POTN on my iPad.

This thread inspired me to go knock out a Chrome Extension for personal use to tweak the new POTN layout. I've never done this before and it seemed like a good enough reason as any to see what could be accomplished. I changed the color scheme in large part to a darker scheme (easier on the eyes), and I removed the invisible "Go To Top" banner that I also find troublesome. Here's a screenshot of my personalized POTN view these days:

I'm terrible with CSS and color schemes in general, but I wanted something darker, so I knocked this out in a couple hours the other night. I'm looking forward to the future improvements to the forum, including the ability to choose different themes.

Ooh! I'm liking this extension. Any chance you could share?

It's definitely not polished by any means, but you're more than welcome to use it. I had to make a few modifications after the 1.1 update (and likely w/ future updates as well). Installation instructions are in README.md.

Thanks. I'll try it out. The 1.1 update has improved readability which is what I like about the extension you developed.

I agree about the readability of the 1.1 update...I write code all day and all of my editors are dark themed so this is a natural extension of that for me.

The nice part about it being an unpacked extension is that you can tweak things in the extension folder as you run into them and then simply go back to chrome://extensions and click the 'Reload' link for this extension to apply those changes to all future page loads...no fuss about repacking and redeploying the extension. That's assuming you make any adjustments...you'll need a bit of CSS knowledge to make that happen though.
